Gemalto's SafeNet Tokenization uses Format Preserving
Tokenization (FPT) to preserve the length and format of
sensitive data and minimize the need to modify applications,
databases, and legacy systems that will store, process, or
transmit the associated token.
Note: all tokenization forms are supported on all databases as long as the vault itself is on Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL or Oracle
SafeNet Vaultless Tokenization (SVT) replaces sensitive data with a random, surrogate value or ‘token’ much like traditional tokenization solutions, but without the underlying database or ‘token vault’ that matches original data and tokens. The vaultless approach is quick and easy to deploy while being
well suited for large scale, distributed environments.
SVT conducts cryptographic operations in memory (without storing any data) to improve performance over traditional vaulted approached - a perfect approach for customers requiring greater speed in addition to robust security. Since vaultless tokenization is algorithm based, organizations that
use significant numbers of tokens – say for use in big data solutions – can more easily scale to larger sizes than when token maps are involved.
Because tokenization – both vaultless and vaulted – preserves data’s length and format, customers need not change the underlying architecture of their database systems.
